:::Proud Muslim::: The term "DBA" stands for "Don't Be Afraid." It deeply troubles me when the world succumbs to Islamophobia. It's disheartening when people erroneously associate all terrorists with Islam. The truth is that only 6% of terrorist attacks in the United States and a mere 0.4% of terrorist attacks in Europe are carried out by Muslims. These statistics highlight the insignificance of this number. My aspiration is simple: to receive my full rights as a member of global society and to garner appreciation from humanity while earning recognition for our community, which encompasses our people, religion, cultures, traditions, and way of life. I am an Indonesian Muslim, and I want to emphasize the differences between Indonesian Muslims and those in the Middle East. We resemble countries like Turkey, where we practice a moderate form of Islam. In Indonesia, we coexist peacefully with Christians, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhists, Kong Hu Chu practitioners, and even some Jews. (It's important to note that Indonesia is opposed to atheism.) To me, being a Muslim is symbolized by various elements: A = The Crescent Moon and Star B = A Muslim Boy C = A Muslim Girl D = A Regular Muslimah with Hijab E = A Stylish Muslimah with Hijab F = A Ninja Muslimah (a playful reference) G = A Burqa-wearing Muslimah H = A Muslimah without Hijab I = A Muslimah labeled as "bad" J = A Mosque (Masjid) K = The Holy Quran L = A Portable Table for the Holy Quran M = The Arabic word for "God" N = The Arabic name "Mohammad" O = The Kaaba (the cube in Mecca) P = The Dervish of Sufism Q = A Tasbeeh (a helpful tool for Dhikr, or remembrance of God) R = A Sajdah (a place for prostration) S = Bottled Zamzam water T = The Palm Tree These symbols are integral to our identity as Muslims, and they represent our faith, culture, and values.
