Rongorongo represents a set of enigmatic symbols that were unearthed during the 19th century on Easter Island. These symbols bear a resemblance to written or proto-written language, yet despite numerous attempts to decipher them, none have been successful. While some researchers have discerned hints of calendrical and potentially genealogical information within these glyphs, they remain largely unreadable. If Rongorongo were indeed a form of writing, it would stand as one of the very few instances of independently invented writing systems in human history.
